Doc Digitizer

A private, browser-based document scanner with OCR and searchable storage. The text-recognition engine is built into the file, so it reads your pages without ever sending them anywhere.

How to use it

1. Begin by creating a Document Category (example: Water bills).
2. Within your Document Category you can create your first document (example: Q1 - 2026).
3. Once you've created a document you can upload files like PDFs or images (you can even take a picture from your phone's camera to add an image directly).
4. Files will automatically be scanned with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract any readable text from the file to make it searchable later on. The OCR runs within the app itself and does not require an internet connection.
5. Once a file is uploaded you can view it, delete it, re-order the pages if a document had multiple files, and leave notes on the file (OCR is far from perfect so use the note feature to make even hand-written documents searchable).
6. The "Export Library" button allows you to create a JSON of your entire library. This is useful to ensure you have a back-up of your library. You can also use it to manage multiple libraries on a single device or if you want to share your library with another device. Simply use the "Import Library" button to load the JSON of the desired library.
